is an action comedy featuring extremely good-looking leads (hint: Don Draper and Wonder Woman) joined by a duo with hilarious comedic timing.Suburban couple Jeff (Zach Galifianakis) and Karen (Isla Fisher) live normal, uneventful lives. When their kids go off to camp, they pretty much need to fill a void. Enter good-looking, polished and accomplished couple Tim (Jon Hamm) and Natalie Jones (Gal Gadot).
The next door neighbors definitely don't look like your typical suburban couple and clearly stand out at the neighborhood barbecue. That doesn't stop them from entertaining everyone with their Marrakesh travel stories and impressive language skills.
Believing Tim and Natalie are too good to be true, Karen begins spying on the neighbors. When Jeff and Karen accidentally uncover a bug in the sculpture gifted to them by the Joneses, they realize their next door neighbors can't be trusted. They break into their house to confirm their suspicion that the two are spies. What follows is a cat and mouse game as the Joneses lead Karen and Jeff into a web of dangerous liaisons and covert operations.
The film is a mildly entertaining comedy with laugh-out-loud one-liners, suitable for a night in with family or friends. If you've seen the trailer, you probably know what's coming, so I'd suggest you skip the trailer and join the Joneses (who have a Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe) on their mission.
Gal Gadot was the most surprising of all. She had impeccable comic timing and I would have liked to see more of her well-timed one-liners. Jon Hamm was compatible with Gal as he made up in looks what he lacked in humor. Isla always puts her best foot forward in any given role and she played her suburban housewife role to the tee. While I haven't been a fan of Zach's characters in the past, I'd have to say he wasn't too shabby at playing the bored, Human Resources people guy. He had depth as far as wacky comic characters go and he did bring out a few laughs in the room.
Blu-ray and DVD special features include Spy Game, which discusses the characters and performances with interesting takes from director Greg Mottola, Jon, Gal, Isla and Zach; Deleted Scenes, which offers five scenes that were left on the editing floor for good reason; Keeping Up with Georgia, which shows a behind-the-scenes of set locations, and a gallery of images on set.
