Channing Tatum cuts ties with The Weinstein Company

Channing TatumIn the midst of the Harvey Weinstein abuse and assault scandal, Channing Tatum has decided he no longer wants to be associated with The Weinstein Company in any way.

The 37-year-old actor took to Facebook on Wednesday to express his decision to part ways with The Weinstein Company. He and his producing partner, Reid Carolin, explained they had a project currently in development with the company, but will no longer be moving forward with it.

The project, titled Forgive Me Leonard Peacock, tells the story of a boy who was sexually abused and how his life fell apart thereafter. Tatum also expressed his support for the women who have come forward as victims of Harvey Weinstein.

The statement read: "The brave women who had the courage to stand up and speak their truth about Harvey Weinstein are true heroes to us. They are lifting the heavy bricks to build the equitable world we all deserve to live in. This is a giant opportunity for real positive change that we proudly commit ourselves to.

"Our lone project in development with TWC — Matthew Quick’s brilliant book, Forgive Me Leonard Peacock — is a story about a boy whose life was torn asunder by sexual abuse,” the statement continues. “While we will no longer develop it or anything else that is property of TWC, we are reminded of its powerful message of healing in the wake of tragedy." ~Marriska Fernandes

Ridiculous. What about all the people who are employed by the company. Punish the one person. Not the whole groups. Nothing but arrogance

I agree with Lee Mac & Marc 100%!! What about the "assistants" who called these women up and took them to Harvey's room and left them?? They knew what was going to happen or had to have known something was up with this fat slob!! I hope he is prosecuted and sent to jail where all kinds of burly men will take him for a ride! Lets' see how he feels after he has been abused in the exact same way!! No more excuses jerk!

Okay, so Tarantino, Tatum and Smith. That's three. Where are the rest of the men coming forward? How many women have to type #metoo before men wake up?

Ah yes, the Accountability Factor has come to collect. Tom, where does our God say Gossip is of lesser evil than Harvey's behaviour? please rethink, retract, take heed & tred carefully, You are seriously out of line, off topic & your careless, unsubstianted words will come back to haunt you. Now, regarding Harvey, I must caution everyone who was/is complicit in directly/indirectly perpetuating Harvey's acts, including unortunately his Victims given each became complicit with the next 'victim, not-with-standing, personally profiting financially... when you could have stopped this or at least put a public kink it it years & careers ago. Sorry Gals & Guys, but were the 'bucks' really worth it? Are you prepared to return every $ paid to you as the direct/indirect result there of... Lee Mac is dead on, Harvey is not the first nor will be the last as long as there are those who lack not only the confidence but respect for themselves that they feel they have to sell their souls to live their dreams... well people, though sad as it may be, you got what you paid for and continue living off its residules. You need to know you had a hand in creating the next 'victim' as do they. This behavioural History has been publically documented since the beginning of time/ Hollywood & each of you need take ownership of your part in this 'Harvey's saga; yes he needs to & will be held accountable... but I ask you to pray for him, & for yourselves given your 'silence' green lit its perpetuation nor, will accountability escape any of you. Pray our God intervenes...though heartbroken, He's listening... Yeshua's listening. Everyone needs to heal. In Love, my prayers go with Harvey & each of you.
