Come Play scares away competition at weekend box office

Come Play, about a monster who uses a lonely little boy's tablet to invade his home, debuted to the tune of $3.15 million at the weekend box office.

Honest Thief starring Liam Neeson as a bank robber who wants to put the past behind him, dropped a spot to second, earning an additional $1.35 million for a four-week total of $9.5 million.

The War with Grandpa starring Robert De Niro and Oakes Fegley dropped one spot to third during its fourth weekend, earning an additional $1 million for a three-week take of $11.3 million.

Now in its ninth weekend of release, Tenet claimed fourth place, taking in another $0.88 million for a total of $53.8 million.

Holding onto fifth place was last weekend's new horror flick, The Empty Man, which earned $0.56 million for a two-week total of $2.3 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
