Cyborg and why he's important to the Justice League

Ray Phisher as CyborgIf you love superheroes, you already know a lot about the Justice League. You know Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). But do you recall, the most important Justice League member of all?

OK, it's not the holidays quite yet, but with Justice League hitting theaters November 16, 2017, it sure feels like waiting for holiday presents.

Mother Boxes: what the heck are they?

They are three mystical boxes the Old Gods (the Greek Gods) sent to Earth in case of an event that threatened the planet. One box was given to mankind, one to the Amazonians (Wonder Woman's tribe), and one to the Atlanteans (Aquaman's tribe).

The Mother Boxes are half machine, half sentient life-forms, and mankind's Mother Box just so happens to be a member of the Justice League: enter Cyborg (Ray Phisher).

Check out the screenshot below from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. You guessed it, it's mankind's Mother Box. Keep reading to find out more about the mutilated man in the background.

Cyborg in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Victor Stone was born in 1994 to two scientist parents working for S.T.A.R. Labs, a scientific research company that discovered the Mother Box. An accident with an inter-dimensional portal nearly killed Victor, and left him with only his head and fragments of his arms and torso.

In a desperate attempt to save his son's life, Victor's father, Silas (Joe Morton), seen above, decides to use the Mother Box to cure his son. Victor becomes Cyborg, with the Mother Box replacing his missing flesh with robotic limbs.

As a member of the Justice League, Cyborg helps the team with his superhuman strength, stamina and ability to fly. Cyborg, being a cyborg, can access any computer network as well as all the information on the internet. Take that, Wikipedia!

In another article, we'll discuss how Steppenwolf's (the film's villain, played by Ciarán Hinds) invasion of Earth is a plot to gain control of the Mother Boxes.
