Man arrested for illegally uploading Deadpool to Facebook

Published By Tribute on Jun 15, 2017

Deadpool movie still starring Ryan ReynoldsTrevon Maurice Franklin from Fresno, California is in hot water after being arrested this week for uploading the hit film Deadpool to his Facebook page just eight days after the film's theatrical release in February 2016, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles.

More than five million people have reportedly watched the film from the man's page. Franklin has been charged with copyright infringement and could face up to three years in prison.

The R-rated film starring Ryan Reynolds as the "merc with a mouth" was a huge box office success and took in over $491 million globally in its first two weekends of release. The film's highly anticipated sequel, Deadpool 2, is due to hit theaters March 2, 2018.

With copyright infringement, illegal streaming and downloading a big issue in the entertainment industry, it wouldn't come as a surprise if this case was fully prosecuted.

Let's hope it serves as a lesson to anyone thinking of doing the same thing -- a three-year prison sentence is definitely not worth a few free hours of laughs!

Yes send him to prison. Too much of this pirate crap is going on.

He will argue that he was streaming it via Facebook platform and likely just get fined. Seriously 3yrs for a movie that possibly the majority of those 5 million people who viewed it, already have watched it before. Not likely to go to prison and become a hardened criminal. "What are you in for?" Showing a movie on Facebook. Hard Core, stay away from this guy!

Ridiculous. Murderers and child rapists spend less time behind bars.

Don't send him to prison, charge him though. I'm sure he has learned his lesson and will never attempt such an act in his life again.

Trevon Maurice should be charged and sent to prison so when he taking a shower and drop the soap the big fat guy can give him a surprise he would never forget and maybe he would think twice of illegally uploading ever again, I pass threw hypercritic people like Trevon all the time thinking it justifiable of stealing as their lame excuse of doing so is as they would say " oh they make millions of dollars " but if anybody ever stole from their plate they would go out for revenge and hunt down the person like a dog

I'm glad to see the authorities putting their focus on what "really matters"

I COMPLETELY agree with Bob Truth. Still, he'll get the prison sentence. Society has it's priorities messed up.
