New movies in theaters - Alien: Covenant and more

Movie bEverything, Everything posteruffs rejoice! A variety of different films are hitting theaters today, including some limited releases, so you may want to make the trip to the cinemas this week.

First, we're heading on a road trip with Greg Heffley and the rest of the family in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. If crazy road trips aren't your thing, you may want to follow Daniels (Katherine Waterston) and her team as they travel to another galaxy on a colonization mission in Alien: Covenant. If you want something to watch with your significant other, the romance film Everything, Everything may be just what you're looking for.

Everything, Everything  A young girl named Madeline (Amandla Stenberg) suffers from a rare disease that requires her to be confined indoors at all times. Her life consists of books and interactions with her mom (Anika Noni Rose) and her nurse Carla. When a moving truck pulls up next door, she sees a boy (Nick Robinson), who becomes her new neighbor. Alien: Covenant - A spaceship called Covenant is on a mission to colonize a planet far away on the other side of the galaxy. Once the ship lands, the crew hopes to discover paradise. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul Greg Heffley's mom (Alicia Silverstone) delivers the news that the family is going on a road trip to see Grandma on her birthday. There's only one catch: no technology is allowed on this ride. When Greg decides he's going to use this trip to meet his long-time hero Mac Digby, it turns out to be a scheme gone horribly wrong. The Lovers A long-married couple has lost their romantic spark and both are having affairs: Mary (Debra Winger) is having a fling with a younger man, while Michael (Tracy Letts) is with another woman. After telling their partners they're getting a divorce, a spark suddenly reignites their relationship. Releasing today in Toronto and Vancouver and on May 26 in Montreal. Click here for showtimes.

Chuck This movie is based on the true story of former heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner (Liev Schreiber), who was also the inspiration behind the movie Rocky. He had many challenging fights during his career against the likes of Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, but in an embarrassing turn, stooped as low as to fight a fairground match with a captive bear. The movie follows the life of Chuck as he battles with his addictions to drugs, booze, and wild women. Opening in Toronto, Montreal and Sherbrooke. Click here for showtimes.
