Olivia Munn blasts United after puppy death

Published By Marriska Fernandes on Mar 15, 2018

Olivia Munn and James Corden are among the celebs speaking out against United Airlines following a "horrific" incident.

A 10-month-old bulldog puppy was placed in the overhead bin for a three-hour flight. The United Airlines flight attendant had ordered the female passenger to do so and at one point the dog began barking in panic. By the time the plane landed, the puppy was dead.

Olivia told TMZ that she's "done" with United. She said: "I’ll never fly United. They can’t take care of all their passengers and the animals. I don’t think anyone should fly with them."

This is not the first time United has got in hot water in regards to the way they treat passengers. Last year, a man was violently dragged out of a United Airlines flight. The video went viral in a matter of hours.

Late night host James Corden also spoke out about the incident involving the dog. He tweeted: "This is horrific, awful, upsetting and should never be allowed to happen again."

The airline has released a statement taking full responsibility for the incident and are investigating the puppy's death.

This is a tragic story and a lesson to those of us who have fur babies. Don't let anyone bully you into putting your baby in danger. The owner could have said no. As owners of dogs, cats or any animal and even human children, we are the protectors. We have to protect them from stupid and evil people. I feel so bad for the owner, she will likely never forgive herself for allowing herself to be bullied into letting her puppy die. And the flight attendant should be fired immediately and banned from ever having a job in which she serves the public. Shame on her and shame on United. This is so upsetting.

I agree totally with Anna. This should never have happened. My cats are my babies and no one will ever mistreat them. The attendant should be fired. How can you stick a living breathing animal in a sealed compartment. What compelled the airline attendant to act in such a heartless manner? There is no excuse for this act of cruelty which resulted in the poor puppy's death.

What is wrong with that flight attendant!!! She claims she could not either understand the passenger nor knew that the dog was in the carrier...most unlikely! Could she did not hear the dog barking in distress when they she shoved the carrier/bag in the enclosed space & closed the cabinet door...is she deaf as well incompetent & cruel...unbelievable! How are any of the passengers able to have any confidence in United Airlines flight attendants or staff to ensure their safety, given this one did not seem to have the basic decent capabilities of listening & performing appropriate reasonable action. It all comes back to United Airlines & their lack of proper training/vetting of their staff. I hope this flight attendant & United Airlines is charged with animal cruelty causing death. That poor puppy died a horrible unnecessary death & this incident should not be swept under the rug with a mire slap on the wrist.

Look, either leave your pets at home or put them in the hull. Many people are allergic to pets and their dander. With the air intake this blows all over the plane and causes severe breathing in some cases. I'm so sick of people who think animals have the same rights as people. LEAVE THEM HOME PEOPLE they are not infants that need to be attached to you. In a contained space animals should not be allowed PERIOD!!

I have to agree that the stewardess needs to be reprimanded and she should be fired. United was saying she is a well experienced stewardess and this horrific accident shouldn't have happened. Well, do something to prove that you care UNITED AIRLINES. If she is so well trained she shouldn't have bullied the owner to put the helpless poor puppy into a baggage container. You would think the stewardess would know what a pet container looks like. She should have checked what the baggage was before telling passengers to put it in the container, especially, with so many little pets being brought on the planes. When the puppy was barking for its life, why didn't anyone question the stewardesses as to why they couldn't check on the puppy. It needs water and extra coverage, a blanket or something to keep it warm. Humans need it, so does the little dog without much fur. It was a three hour flight, could you imagine how a person would feel without water or warmth when the plane is in flight for three hours. United has always been one of the worse airlines to fly with because they always overbook and they do not really care about it's passengers. You feel it when you're on the plane. I haven't flown with them since my last flight over a decade ago. I think United should pay the family for all their suffering, they have to face now and in the future. This puppy was part of their family!!

There really should be some database that shows companies (not just United) who show incompetence, breach of security, loss, damage to the environment and people's health, etc. There's just WAY too many going on right now. Have a category detailing the shameful acts they've committed. Bottom line, they should be held accountable.

shame on United. Shame on the passengers for NOT sticking up for the wee puppy when the Flight attendant went to put her in the Overhead....I have seen people during flight go to the overhead to get stuff out, why wasn't this done? To check and see if the puppy was okay...Never ever fly United...!!!!!

Blaming the passenger was the first step a United Airlines rep. took to try to save UA reputation. First, the flight attendant did not know there was a dog inside a dog container. If she does not know, she should not be working on a plane. Second, she could not understand the passenger because of her accent. Her daughter was there and spoke clearly in English. She said there was a dog in there. However, it is upsetting that the passenger did not make herself forceful. She should have said, "you either let me take my dog under the seat in front of mine (which is the way it all airlines do it), or I am off the plain." We all passengers should stop flying on UA. Enough is enough. Let's hit United where it hurts the most: the money they get from our tickets.

I am moving out of the country and was planning on flying United with my 4 dogs and 2 cats. In addition to the horrible death of the puppy , in the last week 2 other dogs were sent to the wrong destinations; 1 all the way to Japan! I absolutely will not be flying United ever again.

I used to tell my girls to always tell the truth because you always get caught n a lie. I guess the stewardess was never taught that other passengers have come forward and also said the stewardess knew there was a dog in the bag which she chose to ignore them, if you can't do your job without lieing what good are you, I hope they fire her

I do not understand how people who work with the public can be so inhumane, inconsiderate, and have a heart of stone to act in such a way that this poor creature was taken to his death. I do not understand how a company can have people who represent them, of course, because of everything that happens on that airline, from dragging passengers out of their seat, down the aisle, and having the number of pet deaths Higher in the nation, I can imagine that they do not give a damn what they think about the barbarities they do with everyone. This also seems a case of prejudice for not speaking the language of the passenger, I would not be surprised that with arrogance, I grab the kennel with the poor puppy inside and throw it into this compartment and did not care Let him complain until he dies. Moreover, I can not understand how no one thought to get up and take the pet out of that torture if the owner of the pet was very intimidated by the stewardess.

  12. Marisel • 3/15/2018 4:14:26 PM

Outrageous! And my heart goes out to puppy's owner. First and only time I've traveled on plane with an animal Was When I was bringing my fur baby (Bella my cat a rescue) home to Toronto from StLouis on the first flight StLouis to Chicago (on southwest airline)she/ in carrier was able to fit under my seat. Then on the connecting flight leaving Chicago to Toronto (on united airline) her carrier was to large to fit under the seat (thankfully it was winter and the plaine I was in was not fitted for animal travel in the hull) so they put her in their (flight attendants closet) but I insisted the door be ringed to say open a few inches and I checked on her 3 times as she was very upset to not be with me and locked up. ( if I could have I'd have had her in my coat she did that for car travels lol ) the flight attendants I got where very nice. So I was lucky.

At least it wasn't a cat.. cats are cool.

  16. Robert • 3/15/2018 7:30:28 PM

WOW!!!! I love dogs but people need to wake up! In less than 24 hours after this was reported the Republicans/GOP signed a bill into law, that prohibits airlines from putting animals in overhead bins. Hello? What about an age limit on owning a gun in the USA?? How long did it take to ban bump stocks. LOL Hilarious, save the dogs but arm the teachers! LOL MORONS.....

  17. Paul Shapiro • 3/16/2018 12:37:06 AM

My wife and I are dog lovers and what has happened here is unbelievable how someone so stupid could say to a young girl or to anyone "you have to put that in the upper bunk" It's a dog you stupid bitch it belongs on the floor or under the seat NOT on the overhead. On top of this all, no one else in the plane said anything??? Oh I would have and so would my wife, we probable would have been kicked of the plane and that would be ok with us because some one has to stand up for these little pets of ours, we have to be the voice for them and protect them. Good thing I wasn't on that flight. The airlines should be sued and the staff involved Fired!!! I have to bite my tounge on this one.....

  18. isabel • 3/16/2018 7:52:35 AM

it's a terrible situation. you can't disobey the airline staff or you get thrown off the plane and/or arrested and anyone disagreeing or standing up for her would go with them. the staff should be fired. i feel sooo badly for the owner, who couldn't have known what would happen. she will remember this with nightmares forever.

  19. Emmy • 3/25/2018 3:19:20 PM

So is there any accountability? I've seen the powertrips workers go on....hold her accountable! Prison! Ha, lemme guess, nothing much done at all. She should be doing jail time with her smug self.

  20. Dianna • 7/19/2019 8:50:31 PM

Was there not 1 intelligent human on the flight to speak up.What a plane full of idiots,Poor dog,not rocket science to know there is no air in an over bin compartment. It would have never happened to my dog, they would have to throw me off the plane with my dog in my arms then the law suite would come later but my dog would be alive. And 3 hours, what needless suffering,no one ever even checked on the dog.Animal abuse to the first degree.Unimaginable in this day and age and so many people witnessing it.
