Once Upon a Snowman melts Frozen hearts – movie review

Once Upon a SnowmanHere to give you all the warm and fuzzy feels is the new Disney+ short, Once Upon a Snowman.

If you’ve seen Frozen, you’ll remember that while Elsa (Idina Menzel) was belting out the popular musical number “Let It Go,” she created a snowman in the process. Later, Anna (Kristen Bell) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) meet Olaf (Josh Gad), the snowman. But what happened to Olaf during this time?

Taking you back to the origins of Olaf, we get to see a rather cute sequence featuring Olaf. Olaf’s generosity in a small act of kindness will warm your heart, and we learn how he truly came to like warm hugs and summer. Also, how he came to acquire that carrot nose.

This is a heartwarming short that will melt the hearts of Frozen fans. I also enjoyed seeing exactly which part of the movie this short fits into -- seeing Elsa, Anna and Kristoff in the backdrop puts the puzzle piece together quite neatly. There's so much to unpack in this seven-minute short. It’s the perfect winter holiday viewing material.

Once Upon a Snowman debuts exclusively on Disney+ October 23, 2020. ~Marriska Fernandes
