Roseanne Barr reveals how her character will die in spin-off

Published By Tribute on Sep 19, 2018

Roseanne Barr Roseanne Barr has revealed how her character will be killed off in the new series The Conners, and it’s not quite the honorable send-off she was hoping for.

During an appearance on Brandon Straka’s YouTube show Walk Away, the former sitcom star let slip how her character Roseanne will meet her demise by a drug overdose in order to explain her absence in the new spin-off series.

“Oh yeah, they killed her,” Roseanne admitted. “They have her die of an opioid overdose.”

She revealed she was unhappy with the writers’ choice and felt it was an insult to viewers of the cancelled ABC series reboot, Roseanne.

“It wasn’t enough to [fire me], they had to so cruelly insult the people who loved that family and that show,” she said. “There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s done. It’s over. There’s no fight left.”

According to Roseanne, giving her character an opioid addiction was actually her idea, and she had already begun laying the groundwork for this story line in the last season of the show before it was cancelled. She planned on the character having to fight to quit the pills after a previous knee surgery turned her onto them.

“I wanted to show [the opioid struggle] in the show,” Roseanne said. “But I was never going to have Roseanne die of an opioid overdose. It’s so cynical and horrible. She should have died as a hero or not at all.”

ABC cancelled the newly rebooted Roseanne show in May following a racist tweet from Roseanne aimed at Barack Obama’s former aide, Valerie Jarrett, that received serious backlash from the public and celebrities alike.

The network has yet to confirm whether Roseanne’s opioid overdose claims are true, so this could just be the actress’ own speculations. All we know for sure about The Conners is that the family will experience “a sudden turn of events” that will force them to “face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before,” according to a statement from ABC.

The Conners is set to premiere on October 16 on ABC. ~Caitlyn Clancey

lol girl can't stay out of the news for long. always got to be saying stuff so she can have the spotlight. I bet they just say roseanne crashed her car off a bridge and thats the end of it.

Who cares. Just leave to Israel.

All the explicit racial remarks lashed out at President B. Obama, before, after, and during his presidency was worst that what Roseanne has said about V. Jarret. Absolutely, nothing was done, said or acted on for those nasty remarks, cartoons or news. But to hurt and shame Roseanne for disrespecting one of his staff members, appear to be a hidden agenda to me. Roseanne can be a rotten person, but the girl can act......

I think it's pitiful that they fired Rosanne! I doubt seriously if the new series will make it without her. Hopefully, they'll write her out this season saying she had to leave to care for a family member who is dying of cancer or something. Then next season, after seeing the viewership dropping without her, will ask her to come back! Her firing was uncalled for and a HUGE over-reaction. She's no racist!!!

Well I am still remember when she grabbed her...while. This was a very disgusting thing to do in public to our nation, she is gross and vulgar. No manners. I am not suffering from amnesia.

Give it a rest already! No one should say anything bad about anyone but we all do, just look at all the comments here! Thank God this is America, or we'd all lose our jobs. She's in the spotlight so she gets the backlash of her comments. Apologize & move on like adults, please...sticks & stones...

She got exactly what she deserved. She was under contract with the channel so... Anyways this website also runs in Canada. I am glad I am not North American.

Lindsey, Do you know that Canada is part of the North American continent? So you are North American. In the United States of AMERICA we have freedom of speech. I may not agree with Roseanne's comments but she should not have been fired.

I agree with Lynda. Poor choice of words, true. But we are supposed to have freedom of speech. That is unless you happen to disagree with a popular democrat. Roseanne has never chosen her words wisely and never will. That is her version of humor like it or not.

Mmm Hmm. Sure. An insult to the viewers. Right. Grabbing one's crotch and spitting during the National Anthem isn't an insult but killing off a tv character is. Has anyone else considered that she had this set up the entire time and that her need for attention made her conjure up this whole thing...the giving of the character an opioid addictions, the controversial racist tweets, the "cancellation" and the "outrage"/hurt? I think she always planned to do exactly this...

Why don't they take Stephen Colbert off TV for all the horrible things he says about President Trump and every other Republican? He's not funny but very disrespectful of the high office of President. Hollywood is disgusting in general so why fire Roseanne? I hope the show doesn't last a month.

  13. T • 9/22/2018 9:41:02 AM

Show will never last without you. I know I certainly will not be watching. We know that you clearly was made the example of people who support President Trump. I hope you can make an appearance on Last Man Standing!! That would be GREAT!!

Funny when she moves to Israel. They are not going to tolerated her behavior. If she moves to Israel. I think she is just looking for attention.

Everyone seems to forget how many people Roseanne actually gave their start in the industry. George Clooney, Johnny Galecki, Stephan Dorff, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sara Gilbert, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Laurie Metcalf, and the list goes on. Tell me who of you that are so critical have nothing in your own eye - so worried about the faults of others yet can't see for the log in your own eye. So characteristic of today's society.

Whatever happened to "Free Speech"? Roseanne is known for her rude and crude humor, but that's who she is. If you don't like it then don't watch her, but don't ruin it for the people that support her. Why doesn't the View get taken off...same situation with Whoopi, Joy and Megan because they seen to have "Freedom of Speech" and use it to their advantage. This applies to so many others that use television, radio and other type of media to voice their views. But, fortunately nowadays we have so many choices so pick and choose what you want to see, hear and watch and let others do the same!

Some people can’t remember when she grabbed her crotch while she was signing the national anthem. Free speech? Right but not to the point to dishonoring the flag. Free speech does not longer exist in the USA since people are making big deal because some football players kneeled during the national Anthem. They think is an insult so now they are burning shoes from Nike. Lol What a circus.
