Saturday Night Live and Westworld lead 2017 Emmy nominations

Published By Tribute on Jul 14, 2017

SNL cast at 67th Primetime Emmy Awards The 2017 Emmy nominations have been released and cable network HBO's sci-fi drama Westworld and sketch-comedy classic Saturday Night Live have the lead with 22 nominations each.

Although award darling Game of Thrones didn't make the Emmy deadline this year (though it will next year since it premieres this Sunday), HBO made further headway with other shows like The Night Of and Silicon Valley picking up nominations.

Streaming giant Netflix also got some well-deserved award attention with hit shows like Stranger ThingsThe Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and House of Cards garnering some solid nomination nods.

While U.S. broadcasting networks have had a hard time competing with the success of cable networks and streaming services, NBC's tear-jerking drama series This Is Us provided some gains with 11 nominations.

You can watch all the excitement unfold when the Emmy Awards air on September 17th. The Late Show's Stephen Colbert will act as host.

TV is so bad these days. There's nothing worth watching. Other than Bloodline, which didn't even receive many nominations.

oo bad that almost all these nominations are from shows that come streaming channels not regular tv channels that most people have. The majority of people in the world do not have all these fancy channels (HBO, CRAVE, ETC). Never watched any of these shows. It feels as if the few people acknowledged who are on regular channels are just a token. I will no longer be watching the Emmys as I don't have any vested interested in any of the shows listed.
