Scott Baio won't be charged for sexual assault allegations

Published By Tribute on Jun 20, 2018

On Monday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office decided that they would not file charges against Scott Baio, citing that "the statute of limitations had expired."

Nicole Eggert accused Baio of molesting her between the ages of 14 to 17 in the late 1980s. Eggert reported the allegations to police this past January. The alleged sexual assault occurred while they worked together on the sitcom Charles in Charge.

In a press conference in February, Alexander Polinsky also alleged Baio assaulted and "mentally tortured" himShortly after the press conference was given, Scott Baio's lawyers denied the claims.

Baio has been unequivocal in denying the allegations ever took place in both cases and stated that he was in a consensual relationship when she was of legal age.

Lisa Bloom, Eggert's attorney said, "We have been told that while the DA found Nicole and her witnesses to be credible, they could not prosecute due to the statute of limitations. Let's abolish the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse."

Eggert was infuriated by the decision of the District Attorney's Office and told TMZ: "I always knew this case was beyond statutes of limitations and unfortunately the DA would not be able to prosecute Scott Baio. However I also knew the importance of laying the groundwork for any future victims of Baio's that may come forward and to warn parents who might unknowingly allow their children to be alone with this molester."

She took to Twitter and doubled down on her allegations against Baio. Support on social media for Eggert has been mixed, ranging from kind words of encouragement to accusations of slander against Baio. ~Ari Derin

The parents of child actors are actually to blame here. This is the result when you force kids to work with sleazy people like that.

No the parents are not to blame the molester is. Now parent can not let there kids be actors. But you can't watch your kids 24/7.

Okay it's over now..... I never believed any of this. Just claims made by people who are no longer in the limelight but still want to be. ...a rather shabby attempt at lost fame. #teamScott

Telling a story 30 years after the fact, what did you expect. Why didn't you make the complaint when it happened or closely thereafter ???? I have trouble believing stories that are 30 years in the making. I am a very light guy and was raped by 2 male child care workers when I was 14 years old. That was 1974, it was almost unheard of for one reason or another. Even with the emotional and mental abuse I faced after the incident, I stood on top of the tallest place I could and shouted till I was listened to and my story was taken seriously. It took almost 2 weeks before someone finally listened to me. The men were charged and found guilty. Due to the physical damage they caused, it wan't hard to prove what they had done. Waiting 30 is BS and then you expect to be believed ??????

I agree with Lorena. Their stories (the accusers) kept changing. Even if they'd come forward before the statute of limitations ran out, he wouldn't have been found guilty. When they kept changing their minds about what happened, they lost all credibility.

I do not believe Scott is guilty! I just think Miss. Eggert is a liberal! Or he just turned her down! ??

Scott is a friend. He is not a pervert or sex addict! Hollywood is just exploding! Shame on her

@Kathy "I just think Miss. Eggert is a liberal!" What is that suppose to mean? Either way, you've already lost your argument.

Dear Derick, So sorry this happened to you. I m glad you got some kind of justice. Not all victims of rape and abuse have physical proof. That doesn t mean it didn t happen. The mental anguish lasts a life time either way. T
