Vin Diesel honors Paul Walker at MTV Movie and TV Awards

Published By Tribute on May 08, 2017

Vin Diesel took to the stage at last night's MTV Movie and TV Awards along with The Fast and the Furious franchise co-stars Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster to accept the ceremony's Movie & TV Generation Award for the beloved film franchise.

Vin took time to reflect on the history of the franchise as well as his late co-star and close friend, Paul Walker: "In 2002, I was standing on this stage and MTV had given Paul Walker and I an award for best duo. And now, 15 years later, I'm with my whole family and you’ve given us the Generation Award."

The franchise has been delighting fans for years, with a current total of eight installments. In 2013 it lost one of its main actors, Paul Walker, who died in a tragic car crash.

Vin went on to address Paul by his nickname and say that he hopes they're making him proud: "Pablo, we hope you're proud."

He then thanked the fans, without whom this franchise would have never come as far as it has, saying, "I gotta thank a generation that was willing to accept this multicultural franchise, where it didn't matter what color your skin was or what country you were from. When you're family, you're family."

You can catch the latest installment in the The Fast and the Furious franchise, The Fate of the Furious, in theaters now. ~Alexa Caruso

It's great that they keep honoring him by keeping his memory alive. Very touching.
