Which celebrities support Meghan Markle and Prince Harry?

Published By Tribute on Mar 10, 2021

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Meghan's official Instagram Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey in a widely publicized interview just a few days ago to talk about why she and her husband, Prince Harry, decided to leave Britain and their positions as senior members of the royal family. Topics included her mental health struggles after being denied help from the royal family, and racism directed towards their son Archie before he was even born.

The interview has sparked a lot of discussion, and a tremendous amount of support from a number of celebrities -- but also hate from some corners. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain today (March 10, 2021), Andrew Pierce, a journalist  for the British newspaper The Daily Mail said that a poll in their newspaper shows that Meghan is now the second-least popular royal following the explosive interview, after Prince Andrew, who has been linked to Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking scandal.

However, she's getting a lot of love from her fellow celebrities. Hugh Jackman watched the interview with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, who afterwards went on Instagram to praise Prince Harry and Meghan for speaking honestly, courageously and with such dignity about their issues and "their cry for help."

"I recommend Oprah’s interview with Meghan and Harry which Deb and I and millions of people around the world watched last night with astonishment,” he said. “Because there we were witnessing an incredibly high profile woman and her husband speak so openly, courageously, honestly, with such dignity about really the hardest time in their life and their cry for help."

Hugh also took the chance to remind people how important it is to seek help when you need it, and to "never worry alone."

"Last night I just thought, everyone needs to see this because it is such an incredible example to never worry alone. Seek help, and if you’re not getting help where you’re looking for it, keep looking. Go somewhere else because there is always help... I just want to say thank you Meghan, thank you Harry for your courage."

Serena Williams also posted on Instagram to share her love and adoration for the couple, calling Meghan her "selfless friend." The caption reads, "I am so proud of you for being so brave. I know it is never easy. You are strong — both you and Harry. I love you. I adore you."

Bernice King, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter, went to Twitter to voice her support for Meghan and express her sympathy for her. "Royalty is not a shield from the devastation and despair of racism," later adding, "We can know racism exists in an institution and still hurt for someone who was hurt by it. #MeghanMarkle."

Beyoncé showed her support by sharing a message on her website saying, "Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership. We are all strengthened and inspired by you." Last year, Beyoncé also backed up Meghan when she and Prince Harry announced that they would take a step back from their royal duties.

Tennis legend Billie Jean King showed her support via Twitter, writing "Among the revelations from the Meghan and Harry interview is Meghan’s struggle with mental health. Her honesty will hopefully lead to more acceptance and more help for those who need it. #OprahMeghanHarry."

Since the interview aired, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have gotten a fair share of criticism on social media and even in the media, including from Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan who has since stepped away from his position after being called out by fellow host Alex Beresford on the program. American Megyn Kelly, a former Fox News anchor, also trashed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, saying "We’re supposed to feel sorry for you because you couldn’t find a way to pay for your own security?"

Did you watch the interview and what did you think of the bombshells dropped by the royal couple? Are you sympathetic to what they are both going through? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below. ~Sean Olegario

I'm astonished by Megyn Kelly. I saw what she went through in Bombshell, and so she decides that having been bullied for so long by men at networks, she should continue this hatred of women? Meghan said she wanted to commit suicide. In what universe do you think it's okay to continue attacking her? Will you not stop until she's dead? What an atrocious, vicious, bubble-headed moron. Thank goodness for good people like Hugh Jackman and the rest. Have some sympathy, people. You don't know what it's like to be a member of the royal family. Diana almost killed herself too. It can't be as easy or pleasant as everyone thinks. Does anyone remember that Meghan was forced to stop her longtime blog once she was engaged to Harry? That was just the start of her being silenced. The evidence of what happened to her is all there, including some news anchor that tweeted a doctored photo of her and Harry with Archie just after he was born, only instead of Archie, a monkey was photoshopped in. Disgusting how small people can be.

I didn't see the interview but heard about some of it . I doubt Megyn was ignorant of the consequences of being a commoner marrying a royal , and one presumes Harry would have made extensive comments about his mother's struggles. I am happy that they are happily married and wish them a lifetime of love & happiness , but as a royal ( when first married ) the onus was on them to adapt to the hierarchy . They could not and chose to exit that life . I hope they don't hope to make a living by telling stories for the rest of their lives.

I saw the interview and found that Harry & Meghan were sincere and were not making direct accusations at anyone in particular, just the monarchy in general & how it let them down. They refused to state names but expressed what they lived through. Frankly, I'm still amazed that the British people are still willing to pay millions of their taxes in supporting this monarchy.

I am totally appalled at the way the "institution" conducts business and deals with human beings especially family of the Monarchy. I can only give my heartfelt sympathy for everything Meghan and Prince Harry have gone through and continue to go through. Their treatment and comments of racism is disgusting. I believe that the love you have for each other will bring you through all that has happened. I wish you all the best for you both, your son Archie and soon to be daughter.

@Jennifer well said. I really don't understand how these women who themselves have faced those same issues and fought against it like Megyn Kelly and Stacey Dash (even if she is supposedly apologizing for her vile attacks now) will take any chance to bash and demean other women and minorities just to prove how right wing they are. makes no sense

Meghan has been a gold digger forever. You cannot tell me she was unawares of the lifestyle that she would lead once being part of the monarchy. It is very sad that she felt suicidal and everyone should get help when needed. Not impressed with the “institution” if they refused to provide her help. No one should live in that environment. I still believe that Harry and Meghan’s agenda is simply to make money under the guise of humanitarianism!

She played BOTH the race card AND the mental health card. Pathetic.

I feel that there may have been some understandings within the Royal family but I am not surprised that there was racism involved. I can understand how an independent person would feel trapped when you have to turn over your passport and car keys and not be able to go out and do anything like have lunch with someone without permission. Really!! And the final straw was not allowing Megan to get mental health help. In this day and age that is ridiculous too. I am sure they are glad they are away and doing things on their own.

Its sad that such a powerful institution have so little interest in helping each other. Look what Diana went through and now her son with his wife. A lot of people are trashing Meghan calling her a liar and other nasty remarks. Yet the interview was done with Harry there backing what his wife was saying. I find it pathetic of anyone trashing a person who went through the emotional turmoil this women went through that brought her to the point of having thoughts of suicide. While the monarchy did nothing to help her. And why is it that Edward & Fergie's two daughters have each the title of 'princess' but Harry & Meghan son would not have been given any title? Makes you wonder why. One thing for sure. Harry & Meghan won't be coming back to England for quite a while.

    They ALL suck!

  11. Lorien • 3/13/2021 5:10:25 AM

First of all, I do not think anyone should be judged by colour of skin, we should embrace our differences and enjoy what we can share. Not one of us was there to hear a racial slur but no one should have to tolerate those remarks, especially from family, deliberate hurt is unacceptable and I agree with Harry and Meaghan. BUT this should have been discussed with the family and whomever made the remark, confronted and resolved issue. Harry, you always seemed so happy growing up into a man and had more freedoms than most people, except the disgusting behaviour of the media, tabloids their slanderous ways and after your Beautiful Mother passing because of their greed to sell a paper, they should have been put in jail for murder. Laws need to change and if the media cannot support what they are saying, jail should be the answer, My biggest problem with this interview is not that Harry and Meghan spoke up, but the fact that Harry said, I Love my Grandmother and Grandfather, also stating they were not the members of the family that hurt him and his wife, but think about it, who did you hurt in this interview. Your Grandfather is dying, your Grandmother is losing her spouse and this is when you decide to talk about it to Oprah. The only people that benefited from all of this was the media and Oprah, this will just put a bigger wedge between you all and that much harder to repair. You will realize when you get older thinking back to what your Mother wanted for you, was the continued bond between you and your Brother and the Love of family. My parents physically and mentally abused me growing up, the hurt is what Meghan is feeling, the anger is what I had lived with for years and the day I forgave them was a day of release for me, I had been consumed with hurt and anger, felt alive again after I forgave them and only then could I really understand iit came from a place of ignorance, they didnt know better as that was what they were taught. They are gone now and I wish I had taken the time to talk face to face and worked it out,. My parents lived until they were 87yrs old and only became the parents I wished for in the last five years and I realized at how many years were wasted being angry. You should see your Grandfather, meet with you Brother with Meghan, Kate, Grandma and speak honestly, openly about your pain and work this out privately. Maybe your mission should be changing the laws as to what reporters, media and tabloids should be allowed to do and give back peoples privacy and their lives. I do wish you both much happiness and a healthy pregnancy. Find a good Counsellor you can feel comfortable to open up to and trust, I wish you well

That was a powerful interview. It's funny how people pick and choose parts of the interview to believe and other parts to not believe. Meghan obviously didn't join this family because she's a gold. She was already had her own wealth and independence. All she wanted was to be accepted and welcome into that family. Honestly I don't understand why people don't believe what happened to her considering everything that Princess Diana went through because of that family and even what Kate went through. Kate obviously wasn't allowed to speak about anything it because William will be king and she will be queen so she has to be quiet. I'm so very disappointed by Megan Kelly I felt sorry for her because of all the crap she went through at Fox and for her to make those comments was just disgusting and shameful. I applaud Meghan and Harry for speaking her truth. Keep your head up girl good things are coming your way. Be happy with the family you're building and enjoy your life.
