Zac Efron to star in the upcoming Ted Bundy film

Published By Tribute on May 16, 2017

Zac EfronZac Efron may be well known for his early work with Disney and his more recent big-screen comedies, but the actor is switching his usual comedic roles for something much heavier.

Zac will play notorious serial killer Ted Bundy in the upcoming film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. The film will tell the story through the perspective of Bundy's girlfriend at the time.

According to producer Michael Costigan, the High School Musical star is perfect for the role, saying, "He can play both the depth and the charm that this guy had in equal measures, and which allowed him to manipulate these women in such a terrifying way."

In the meantime, you can catch Zac in a lighter role alongside Dwayne Johnson in the TV series film remake, Baywatch. The actor has also just finished wrapping up filming for the upcoming movie, The Greatest Showman. The film also stars Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is set to debut a year from now at the Cannes International Film Festival. The project will be helmed by Oscar-nominated director Joe Berlinger, a documentary specialist responsible for HBO's Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory.

What do you think about this surprising news? Do you think Zac Efron will make a believable serial killer, or should he stick to lighter roles? ~Brenden Zerihun
