High expectations but was disappointed with the weak story.

User review rating: 1 January 26, 2018

Can hardly wait for the next sci-fi but unfortunately it won't be Star Wars as this one was a failure.

User review rating: 1 January 26, 2018

Poorly done.

User review rating: 1 January 26, 2018

If you have standards that a five year old has when viewing this then you'll enjoy it.

User review rating: 1 January 26, 2018

The only star in this show was the special effects.

User review rating: 1 January 26, 2018

If you have low expectations it's okay.

1) Almost all the negative comments are right. Luke is a broken man, Rei is unbelievably strong and wise for one with no training, which is acknowledged in the movie. Ky Lo Ren is no Darth Vader. 2) The villain (Ky Lo Red) is as uninspired as the story. 3) Wah Wah Wha. Star Wars: IV A New Hope is what these whiners are comparing The Last Jedi to, and, of course it can't stand up to the comparison. Especially when A New Hope was watched through teen and pre-teen eyes. A New Hope was a ground breaker on many different levels. High tech Special Effects, the soundtrack, a serious space opera, just to name a few. It hit all the right notes in just the right way, including having an audience ready for it. 4) Despite this, The Last Jedi has a lot going for it. Solid SFX Special Effects and the Star Wars brand. Yes, the plot is weak and unbelievable, yes they broke away from the tried and true plots, but that was what was WRONG with The Force Awakens, it was just a bigger remake of A New Hope. The Last Jedi in all truth, has a respectable story, no less believable than a Bond movie. The major problem with ALL the sequels is that A New Hope was an entire 'Book' with a beginning, middle and end. The sequels are all single chapters of a 'book'. A New Hope was a once in a lifetime type event, all the rest are simply the rest. The Last Jedi hits all the right notes to be a successful sequel, just not to be a groundbreaking stand-alone like A New Hope.

The movie is similar to previous star wars movies. The new actors in this movie lack the screen presence of the original crop

User review rating: 5 January 25, 2018

This movie was funny. No so serious like the previous one. I had fun.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

The kids kept asking "can we go now."

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

There will be no next time for this series.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

If I were paid for my time it would have been worth it.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

It's sad when one has to watch reruns of the old shows to enjoy Star Wars the way it was meant to be with action, interesting characters and a great story.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

Double zeros. Maybe next time.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

It matters not if the plot is poor and the characters unbelievable as it simply fills in the time between films of higher quality. Coming out at Christmas guaranteed its unjustified success.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

I love science fiction because of the amazing effects but it would make the experience complete if it was accompanied by a credible story.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

The kind of movie that makes one want to grow up as a wise, strong woman, even if you're a man.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

Fails on most levels.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

Guess they're attempting to indoctrinate our children rather then entertain us.

User review rating: 1 January 25, 2018

No stars for the story, one for the acting and from three to four for the special effects.

User review rating: 1 January 24, 2018

With this franchise deteriorating fast one can look forward to its replacement. Maybe Star Trek can up their game and take over as the premier franchise.

User review rating: 1 January 24, 2018

The weak and impotent Luke Skywalker is bested by an untrained, almost kind of Jedi, and then saves the day at the end. That's consistent.

User review rating: 1 January 24, 2018

One would expect it to be at lest as good as the previous ones, which were average.

User review rating: 1 January 24, 2018

Poor story and acting wasn't particularly good.

User review rating: 1 January 24, 2018

Travesty

User review rating: 3 January 23, 2018

Very hard to follow. Didn't really think it was great.

User review rating: 1 January 23, 2018

As Kylo suggests you must kill off the past. Rian Johnson did that to this franchise. He was in trouble from the start when he lost the great one-liner character of Hans Solo. His attempts to bring humor to the film were pitiful starting will the first incounter between Luke and Rea. The Force Awakens brought new life to the series. With it came excitement and great expectations for its loyal fans. Johnson deflated it all!!!

Epic ending. Can’t wait for the sequel.

User review rating: 1 January 23, 2018

Holy F__k this movie SUCKS!! There were a lot of stupid parts in this movie however the two most stupidest parts were princess Leia floating back to the ship like Mary Poppins with an umbrella. And Luke Skywalker climbing hills and mountains like some Billy goat

User review rating: 1 January 22, 2018

Oh my God Disney what have you done ?? This was very bad, very very bad. I am sooo disappointed. None of it made sense, acting was poor, scenes were slow and ponderous. The whole Casino thing was useless. This was NOT a fitting tribute to the Princess, this was NOT a fitting end to Luke although his one scene at the end was priceless. Most of the scenes were stolen from previous chapters and made worse. This is not in any way a decent kickoff to the new generation and the 2nd or 3rd coming of the Rebellion.

User review rating: 1 January 22, 2018

Hopefully they'll allow this thing to die out itself so we can get some quality sci-fi, like anything from James Cameron.

User review rating: 1 January 22, 2018

Trash with fine special effects that are not enough to save it.

User review rating: 4 January 21, 2018

Average movie but not to one star.

User review rating: 4 January 21, 2018

The Finn/Rose plotline was the only weak part of the movie for me; too forced (although it did produce one tense interesting scene). Overall the story was bold and believable, the action thrilling, the acting mostly strong and the feel very “Star Warsy”. People are disappointed their plot expectations weren’t fulfilled but this story could have gone many different ways. This was one of them; it is time to move ahead.

Meh. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I won't be watching a hundred times like I did with A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Seeing this movie once is plenty for this lifetime.

User review rating: 1 January 20, 2018

I suppose this was a film by Rian Johnson where he believed he was subverting expectations based on what J.J. Abrams set up with The Force Awakens. Literally all the main characters (Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Po, Rose) have 0 growth as characters, and all of their actions are devoid of consequence. Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, Supreme Leader Snoke, Yoda, etc., are all used for either comic-relief doing things completely out of character, or aren't developed at all with a back story so as to carry any real weight, in their life or death, or just seemed to be used to sell toys or for the nostalgia factor. I strongly dislike the prequels (Episodes 1, 2 & 3), but I'm sad to agree with so many other people that this movie was worse & seemed to push a political agenda or like some horrible child who desperately seeks approval from others while they think their jokes are way more hilarious than they actually are. I suppose if you're between the ages of 2-12 you might like this film. Again, I thought Jar-Jar Binks was funny back in 1999...but then I grew up. However, anyone who is a Star Wars fan, who grew up with Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi will probably be very disappointed. I will not even talk about the Casino scene. Avoid the pain & skip this film.

Great Sound, Great Movie Experience but just disappointed at the movie. Can't directors get past ego's and follow each other's story lines? The first movie a large spent of plot is spent on getting Luke his light saber but the second movie did not follow that plot line. Then second director took story leaps that mess things for the third movie. It made so much money because people want to see what happens. Just disappointed at the director will be sure to avoid his movies in future.

LMFAO - I wish I would have smoked up prior. It probably would have been 2 stars instead of 1. "How bad was it? Bad enough that another movie goer smoked a joint in the theater to alleviate the illness the movie was inflicting upon us all. Doubt it helped at all."

User review rating: 1 January 18, 2018

Bad script, acting and special effects. I walked out 40 minutes in.
