There is so much to like about this movie that I am dismayed that it will have an American version with Jack Nicholson. Broad humour on the part of an aging father who just lost his elderly dog eventually wins over his neglectful, wound up, stressed, under-appreciated international consultant daughter. The humour is meant more for the daughter than the viewer and it is at times infused with a poignancy that 'spaghetti' misses altogether. It is a very long film but worth every minute and the best scenes are toward the end when everything unravels. The final scene is an open question and almost unbearably moving.

A movie so great it will restore your faith in life itself. The themes it takes on include father and adult-daughter dynamics, corporate culture, world economics, feminism, families. It's long but has no fat. The audience erupted into applause after the showing I attended. Best movie I've seen in several years.
