A good competitor to Mission Impossible in the spy genre.

I saw the Swedish version and it was so memorable and shocking of a story that I remember. However I found myself so drawn into this version as if I has not seen the other one. It kept at the edge of my seat with the fast pace, great visual portrayal of everything, great acting - this young actress Rooney Mara is a natural , a gem, unbelievably good and the directing ...come on ..Fincher is Fincher, a genius in telling the story perfectly well. Great movie all around.

The movie did the book justice. Yes it was graffic yes it was violent that is what the story was about so quit whining about it!!! I see several oscars in it's future. Can't wait for the other 2. Way to go hollywood!!

Excellent through and through . Great plot well done .

There sure is a lot of people here who have a really skewed outlook on life that they feel a remake of a movie, no matter how recent the original was, is such a blight on their lives. This new film doesn't erase or destroy the original. If you love that one so much, it's still there, and no one is forcing you to view this one. Jeez...take all that negative energy and try and do something positive with it.

Although there is a lot of graffic scenes in this movie, I thought the plot was fancinating and the actors excellent. This movie should win several Oscars.

Honestly, I think it really depends on the movie. I haven't seen this one, nor the Swedish one, but there have been some remakes that were better than the original. Note the word "some". Like Pride and Prejudice. The one previous to the newest, I believe it was, was more of a comedy than a romantic classic, and I personally didn't like it as much as the new remake. However, if I was looking for a funny version of the movie, the older one would be appropriate. It all depends on taste. In other words, stop forcing your opinions on everyone. And I know that sounds hipocrytical, but it's not, because I acknowledge that there are both good and bad remakes,

great movie

Not everyone can deal with subtitles. I found the American version very true to the book and certainly not any more sensationalized than the Swedish version which I also thought was great. For once tha US of A didn't ruin it.

very loyal to the book...looking forward to the others

Having read the books - I found this movie stuck to the story line extremely well. The acting was great, Lisbeth was just like I pictured her - fun all around. My favorite movie this year.

It's not a remake people, its another adaption of the book

User review rating: 5 December 15, 2011

Well maybe the people who think the remake in English was a bad idea don't consider people who don't see very well. Best book ever and thank you for making this movie in English.

not needed new version! the best is the swedish original millenium trilogy...holwood movie are more and more boring....

User review rating: 1 June 14, 2011

It's always the same story, get a bunch of big name actors, throw them in a "Pot" together and you get "Ghoulash"!The is never any need for remakes either recent or old, cause if the original is already well made, why destroy it.The American movie company's need to come up with fresh and new ideas instead of stealing them(ex.:"Let Me In",which the original was brilliant!)from any country making already great films!

Honestly I am the same as the previous guy. I sincerely wish for ppl to boycott. Cash grabs are BS, it's just calling the public stupid. I only saw the first of the swedish movies, but it seemed well done. So no need to squash it with a heavy handed american remake.

Great movie. No remake needed and airbrushing won't win it over.

If you don't need to see a movie just read the book and stop there. Your condescending attitude that you can make a judgement based on no information is childish. I have read the books, seen the original movies and am looking forward to David Fincher's interpretation. I like to see movies before I slam them and the people who enjoy them.

I don't need to see the movie to make judgements. It's one thing to remake a movie that's over forty or fifty years old, but it's an entirely different matter when a movie triology is remade only one year after the last installment of the original triology was released. Just because some people are too lazy to read the subtitles, it doesn't mean you should make a whole new Americanized version of it. Having the actors speak the language of where the plot and setting is to form, just creates a more vivid appeal and "realness" to the film experience.
