    My grandma used to make Christmas cake and she would wrap up coins in aluminum foil and hide them in the cake. She would then pour 151 proof rum on the cake and light it on fire which was quite the show. She made a hard sauce to go with it and it was the most delicious and artistic cake with a surprise inside to boot.

    My favorite Christmas Dessert was my mom's Raisin Pie which she made from scratch. People would rave about it for days & would always try to get the recipe from her. Mom is no longer with us anymore - it's been 32 years that I haven't eaten her famous Raisin Pie. My other favorite Christmas dessert which my mom did make just one time before she passed on are Thumbprint Cookies which I make at least once each year. They are heavenly & made with lots of butter, nuts & filled with any flavored jam of your choice. They melt in mouth and go straight to the hips which is why I only make them at Christmas.     My favourite Christmas dessert, believe it or not, is Christmas Pudding. It's not that I love the taste, it's because my wife loves the stuff. The look on her face as she remembers her mom giving her similar pudding is priceless. She knows she is the only person in our home that loves it and feels guilty when she buys the one she makes every year. I indulge her and eat a small portion with enough rum sauce to hide the taste every year. I love her that much.

    My favorite Christmas dessert is something my mom and grandma would make when I was a kid. Icebox cookies! I still love them to this day. My mom and grandma are no longer with me to spoil me with those treats, but every once in a while I see them in the grocery store and I have to get myself a Christmas treat. :)

    I don't really know the proper name for them, but I call them "Green Christmas Cookies". They are made with the cookie press and you always have to use the tree shaped disc, have to have green food coloring and for sure red sprinkles. My mother in law first made them for me and I have yet to have an xmas without them. Going on 25 years now.. :)

    Every Christmas, my mom refrigerated a pan of green Jello and a pan of red Jello, cut the gelatin in cubes and served it in her best glass bowl. The kids had fun squirting on a dab of whipped cream from a can. We had this with Christmas cookies cut in Santa Claus shapes and thought the dessert was really special.     My favourite Christmas dessert is a Hungarian dessert that my mother taught me how to bake many years ago - there isn't an English translation for the name but it's a bar-type dessert that alternates layers of pastry with finely ground walnuts with icing sugar plus apricot jam, with the final layer of pastry topped with a thin coating of dark chocolate. It's delicious and the most amazing dessert!

    My favourite time at Christmas is family gathering with lots,of foods, mostly roast turkeys with stuffing, egg nog, fruit cake, ice cream and roasted chestnuts. All sisters, brothers and wife, husbands, cousins, uncle and aunts. I have a big family and my Christmas party is on Christmas, with gifts, cocktail drinks and close family make it super special. Everyone stays till midnight and we open gifts and have champagne. It gets better and better every year and each one looks forwards for this time of year.     My grandmother always made a pudding consisting of suet, currants, peel and rum and hung it in cheese cloth for a couple of months. The pudding would then be boiled and served with a hard brown sugar sauce. That pudding is always the first thing I think of when I think of Christmas.

    My dads parents were both pastry chefs, trained in England but they immigrated to Canada in 1908. When my mom and dad were married he brought along the recipe for the Christmas pudding his mother had made, so we grew up eating it every Christmas day. It was warm, sweet and spicy and topped with white rum sauce. I made it all the years my family was growing up, and introduced it to my Dutch in laws, one of whom I still make a pudding for every year. It just isn't Christmas without that bowl of pudding

    My favorite dessert at Christmas is a lemon meringue pie. You freeze it and eat it frozen and since it's a huge pie you can eat it from Christmas until the new year! It's deliciously tangy and once you try one bite you want more. At a party people can't eat enough of it and it's always the first dessert to be all eaten.

    Christmas Yule Log Cake. Such a great dessert with creamy icing. Its hard to find now. Used to buy it a Denningers in Hamilton but they do not carry it anymore. Some grocery stores have them, but small and not quite as good. :(
